Trace element requirements of Bacillus subtilis for mycobacillin formation.

چکیده
In studies on the nutritional requirements of Bacillus subtilis during mycobacillin formation in complex media, it was observed that the addition of a mixture of salts (KH2PO4, MgSO4, FeSO4, and MInSO4) to a casein hydrolyzateglucose medium greatly enhanced mycobacillin formation (AIajumdar and Bose, 1959). Reports by a number of workers (Jansen and Hirschman, 1944; Hendlin, 1949) indicate that elements (K, Fe, MIg, Ain, etc.) possess a special role in the formation of the two antibacterial antibiotics bacitracin and subtilin by B. subtilis in a defined medium. The present communication deals with a study to assess the individual role played by trace elements in the biosynthesis of mycobacillin.

Translocation of mycobacillin synthetase in Bacillus subtilis.
The extracellular release of mycobacillin from Bacillus subtilis first occurred in the medium at the onset of stationary phase and continued at a high rate even after 6 days. Mycobacillin synthetase activity appeared earlier than late-exponential phase in the cytosol of producer cells and was not sedimentable even at 105 000 g. The activity then quickly reached the maximum late in the stationar...

متن کاملAmino acid composition of cell wall and spore coat of Bacillus subtilis in relation to mycobacillin production.
Most of the bacteria producing peptide antibiotics are aerobic sporeformers. The relation between the two processes (spore formation and peptide production) has been suggested by several investigators (R. W. Bernlohr and G. D. Novelli, Nature 184:1256, 1959; Balassa et al., Compt. Rend. 257:986, 1963). D-Amino acids, which are characteristic constituents of the peptide antibiotics, have been sh...
متن کاملMycobacillin-Synthesizing Cell-Free System
In a cell-free system from Bacillus subtilis B3, ATP-P1 exchange was catalysed by L-proline at a pH optimum of 7.2. Further stimulation by component amino acids of mycobacillin was inhibited by deprivation from the synthesizing system of even a single amino acid occurring at any point of the cyclic peptide. This inhibition, however, decreased with the distance in the molecule of the given amino...
متن کاملInvestigation of the effect of biosurfactant of Bacillus subtilis against Staphylococcus strains biofilms
Background: Biosurfactants are compounds that are produced by different microorganisms and have an emulsifying property. This study aimed to investigate extractive biosurfactant from bacillus subtilis (PTCC1720) against the biofilms of Staphylococcus aureus (PTCC 1112), Staphylococcus saprophyticus (PTCC 1440) and Staphylococcus epidermidis (PTCC 1435). Materials and Methods: This study was con...
